The coniunctio is the sacred marriage of opposites. Heaven and hell are but one of a multitude of dichotomous archetypes in our cosmological language.
This is the symbolism of this piece; it doesn't not necessarily reflect my own beliefs but instead is inspired by the theme of "heaven and hell" and therefore uses elements of the associated mythology: The black wire with the opalescent stone is heaven. Its appearance does not matter - to the point of being deceiving - because it is a state of being in which the spirit joins with the rest of the universe so that external conditions are recognized for what they are: ephemeral illusions. The core is luminescence and bliss. The silver wire with the black stone is hell. It is seemingly beautiful on the outside, but that is yet another gilded illusion. The core is darkness and despair. The two opposites are not wholly apart - the two cannot exist without one another, so they are intertwined much like life and death, yin and yang, being and nothingness. The marriage of the two opposites - the coniunctio - comprises the essence of existence. Materials used: sterling silver and black wire, pearl, spinnel, swarovski crystal, chain and a toggle piece. See details of the two wrapped "stones" in my scraps: [link] & [link] This piece is sold. © Corviid (Raven A.E.) All rights reserved. This is my own original design; I'll thank you to not copy it. |
